Contact Lens Fitting
You can find out why the correct fitting is so important for the health of your eyes here.
Alternatively, you can book an appointment directly for a fitting with one of our master opticians.
Unique – Your eyes
Our eyes are as individual as a fingerprint, which is why thorough measurements and care are essential when choosing your contact lenses.
As is often the case with us, many factors pave the way to success.
Factors for Successful Contact Lens Wear:
-
Fit
The lens should fit as snugly as possible to the eye while also having sufficient mobility. If it sits too steeply, it will suction on. If it sits too flat, it will generally have too much movement.
This often comes down to tenths of a millimeter.
Our measuring devices have the necessary precision, so we are guaranteed to find the right fit for your eye.
-
Oxygen supply
The oxygen permeability of contact lenses is extremely important for the health of your eyes. If too little oxygen reaches the eye over a long period, this can lead to permanent visual impairments. Especially when lenses are to be worn daily for extended periods, particular attention must be paid to the oxygen permeability of the lens material.
We will advise you in detail.
-
Your tear film and the wetting of the lens
The tear film is the delicate casing in which the contact lens floats. It helps the lens to glide on the eye and protects its surface from drying out by keeping it moist.
As you can see, the tear film plays a crucial role in the wearing comfort of the lens.
That's why our contact lens fitting always includes a tear film analysis.
-
Optics
Of course, you should also be able to see well with your contact lenses. Here, in addition to our eye exam, all the factors that played a role in the fitting come together.
-
Tilting
If your contact lens also corrects your astigmatism, it is important that it does so in the correct axial position for optimal vision.
With our measuring instruments, we are able to measure and thus correct any tilting.
How an adjustment works:
I.
Refraction test
To ensure you see clearly, we first measure your required visual acuity.
II.
Slit lamp examination
We use our "eye microscope" to examine your eye and tear film so that we can select the correct material and ensure that we do not damage the eye with a contact lens.
III.
Measurement of Eye Geometry
With our special measuring device, we measure the transparent cornea of your eye to within 1/100 of a millimeter.
Based on this data, we find the correct geometry for your contact lens.
IV.
Test wear
Once all measurements are complete, the first trial fitting takes place.
We order trial lenses to observe how the lens behaves on the eye and whether any changes occur in the eye.
We also check visual acuity.
If we are satisfied with the lenses, they can even be taken home immediately.
V.
Training
We will train you in handling your lenses.
This includes:
- Insertion and removal
- Cleaning
- Storage
We also provide useful videos on handling here:

Follow-up examinations
Follow-up examinations are very important, because our eyes are constantly changing, and contact lenses can lose their fit or comfort over time.
We offer regular follow-up examinations so that you are always on the safe side.
